Facts You Can Do It Staying Active Leadership Call To Action Resources and Events
Be Healthy, Be Active

Call to action

There is clearly a need to focus on the environment and policy side of the equation, including but not limited to support for:

  • Pedestrian/Bicycle-Oriented Transportation Facilities and Services;
  • Healthy School Sites, Facilities and Policies;
  • Recreation Facilities, Parks and Trails;
  • Active Living Land-use Planning and Development; and
  • Safety, Security and Crime Prevention

The WCPPA is committed to work through:

  • Preparation: Develop and foster multi-disciplinary partnerships that include representatives from public health, city planning, transportation, architecture and other fields.

  • Promotion: Communicate through a number of available outlets such as traditional mass media channels, e-mail, and newsletters.

  • Programs: Create programs that heighten the demand for physical activity in their community and mobilize the public to advocate for policy change.

  • Policy Support: Support decisions that impact policies and programs and ensure that supportive infrastructures are institutionalized.

  • Physical Projects: Encourage development of physical improvements such as parks, trails, bikeways, and sidewalks.

WCPPA believes that investing in active living programs now will save money in the long-term through cost offsets and prevention.

The WCPPA includes many individuals, plus representatives from the following organizations:
