This meeting explores what has become a key
priority for city planners, public health professionals, clinicians, school
administrators, transportation professionals, and health educators: how to
create, build and maintain communities that encourage and promote physical
activity as a way of life.

The meeting
includes:

· A keynote presentation by
Richard E. Killingsworth, MPH, Director of Active Living by
Design (http://www.activelivingbydesign.org/), a national program of The
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation that establishes and evaluates innovative
approaches to increase physical activity through community design, public
policies and communications strategies;
· Actual examples
of how local communities throughout our state have implemented activities that
increase physical activity;
· A presentation by the National
Governor's Association (NGA) on its Leadership for Active Living
Initiative in Washington State, as one of only 4 states participating in
this program. The NGA plans to educate key Washington state leaders on the
importance of designing "activity-friendly" communities and inspire
change;
· Highlights from the Washington State Nutrition and
Physical Activity Strategic Plan, which describes policy and environmental
approaches to promoting physical activity;
· Research featuring
current and future trends in outdoor recreation in our state;
·
An awards presentation for individuals and organizations making
outstanding contributions to this field; and
· Planned time to
converse & meet other attendees. |

From I-5 Southbound:
»Take exit 158,
(Boeing Access Road/East Marginal Way).
»At light at the end of
the exit, turn right onto Boeing Access Road, then merge to the far left
lane.
»At next light (5-way intersection), make a hard left onto
East Marginal Way South.
»Travel approximately .5 mile, then turn
right at next light on East Marginal Way South.
»Travel
approximately .5 mile more. crossing over 124th Avenue. After crossing over
124th Avenue, turn right at the first entry into the parking lot. Drive
straight ahead and then turn left, going up a slight hill. Continue up and
drive around the building to the South side. The main entry is on the South
side of the building.

156, SR 599 Tukwila West Marginal Way.
»Turn left on Interurban
Avenue, heading north.
»Follow Interurban Avenue to East Marginal
Way South, and turn left.
